Regattas: SAIL coordinates the schedule of open regattas in the region & our calendar lists other events, as reported to us.

Regional Championship Tours

SAIL sponsors four regional tour championships for
    * Dinghies,
    * Keelboats,
    * PHRF classes, and
    * Junior Sailors.

Each tour consists of a circuit of regattas defined before the season begins. No entry form is needed; each individual or family member is considered entered upon paying SAIL dues for the year and the tour is scored, based on results from the tour’s regattas.

The tours are scored, based on the best results in a minimum number of regattas, by the Cox-Sprague formula, as published by US SAILING.

The only additional requirement for being scored for the tour championships is that teams who sail in more than one boat or with more than one skipper must notify the Tour Chairman and provide details before October 1 of the season being scored.

One-Design vs. Handicapped Fleets:

Most open & club events in the SAIL region accept entries for both one-design classes (A fleet will be granted for a minimum number of boats in the class.) and handicap fleets for those without sufficient boats to make a one-design fleet. The handicap fleets will usually be scored on the Portsmouth Yardstick (for dinghies & multi-hulls) and PHRF for keelboats.

US SAILING Championships

for amateur sailors, men & women, adults & juniors:
SAIL membership carries the benefit of eligibility for regional, area, and national championships. US SAILING membership is required for Area F & national championships. SAIL will support a portion of the entry fee for qualifying teams in Area events.
